Westford is a town located in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, 38 miles north of downtown Boston. The town was settled in 1635, and it was officially incorporated on September 23, 1729. The total area of town is 31.3 sq mi (81.1 km2).

The population was 22,624 at the 2010 United States Census, among which 92.8%were whites and 4.8% were Asians. The median age of the population is 36.9. For population 25 years and over in Westford, 56.8% has a bachelor’s degree or higher and 24.9% has a graduate or professional degree. The most common occupations for male are computer specialists (12%) , other management occupations except farmers and farm managers (10%) , engineers (9%) , top executives (7%) and sales representatives, services, wholesale and manufacturing (5%).

The median household income in Westford in 2009 was $126,154, and the median per capita income in 2009 was $48,178. The median Asian household income in Westford was $168,877 in 2009. 10% of Westford families had an annual income above $200,000, and 9% of families had an annual income between $150,000 to $200,000. The estimated median house or condo value in 2009 was $451,594. The criminal index in 2009 Westford was 83.4 (U.S. average: 319.1), which was pretty low.

Westford is also renowned for its public education system, which include six elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school, Westford Academy. According to the Massachusetts high school ranking conducted by Boston Magazine, Westford Academy was ranked 22nd within Massachusetts in 2012. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement coursework and exams. The AP participation rate at Westford Academy is 48 percent.
